Kirstin loves to "help Dad!" Soon she will be able to take over the lawn-mowing duties...

The zucchini plant is producing very well.

Kirstin's new room.
We went to the Reno temple (about 2 hrs from Sacramento) to celebrate our 4th anniversary. We have started a tradition of attending a different temple each anniversary. Including our sealing, we have been to the Logan, Manti, Oakland, Sacramento, and Reno temples. Pretty soon we'll have to move to Utah or rack up the frequent flyer miles.

Jeff's Triathlon

Jeff competed in his first Triathlon Saturday June 6th in Rancho Seco.
He belongs to a team for BYU-Alumni called, Y-Tri.
The course included 0.5 mile swim, 16 mile bike ride, and 3 mile run.
Kirstin cheered, "Go, Go Daddy!" and cried when Jeff would pass her and not stop to take her with him.
Way To Go Jeff!

California Summertime

We are keeping up with our average of updating our blog every 2.5 months. Autumn continues to grow into her role as a mother of a precocious toddler and new son who will be welcomed to our family in the next few months--July 11 is Autumn's due date. Autumn is enjoying her new job as a nurse in labor and delivery at Sutter Memorial Hospital--especially since her 2 shifts a month fit nicely into family life.

Kirstin's vocabulary is exploding. She loves to read books. Her current favorites are the Winnie the Pooh books and her dad's childhood favorite: The Spooky Old Tree.

Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks:

We invited the missionaries from our ward for dinner on Mother's Day. We took pictures of them and sent them to their mothers. They also took one of our little family with our house in the background.

We took our second annual trip to Big Sur/Monterey. The weather was sunny and beautiful. Kirstin loved the beach. This is a picture of McWay Falls at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in Big Sur.

Kirstin loved seeing the fish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They have interactive exhibits for the kids to enjoy.

We visited family in Utah and Idaho including attending "Kaykee's" baptism and welcoming Zio "Lo-Lo" home from his mission and playing with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

One of Jeff's Scout had an Eagle Project at the Sacramento Zoo. Kirstin and Autumn met him there to see the animals.

Jeff is training for his first triathlon. Autumn and Kirstin meet Jeff at the local pool a few times a week during lunch for swimming time. Jeff also purchased a new road bike (Specialized Tarmac). He's thinking about quitting his job a training for the Giro and the Tour de France next year.

We are incrementally improving our yard and garden. We brough in 5 cubic yards of soil because we found last year that hard clay did not produce very much. We planted peas, zuchini, pumpkins, beans, tomatoes, carrots, onions, and strawberries. Our orange "stick" produced three orange buds which have quickly fallen off--maybe next year.

(Last week):

As you can see, the California sunshine is great for our gigantic zuchini plants.

On a recent "Daddy Night" (when Autumn was working), Jeff and Kirstin enjoyed a Sacramento River Cats baseball game (Triple-A). Kirstin loved the $1 hot dogs and ice cream. She even lasted into the bottom of the 3rd inning!

The Last Few Months

The last few months have flown by. We celebrated Christmas in the snow in Idaho, Valentine's Day in the rain in Sacramento, had a visit from Coby for the Tour of California bike race, and a visit from Grandma Pfeiffer where Kirstin learned how to play on the computer. Now, Kirstin will not allow anyone else on the computer, so our blog posts have decreased dramatically. Thanks Grandma Pfeiffer! We also had a battle royale with home invaders--ants. After completely clearing the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and garage, we finally prevailed.

We have enjoyed the mild winter months in Sacramento. We took a trip to the Sacramento Zoo which helped Kirstin practice her animal sounds. Autumn oriented at Sacramento Memorial Hospital as an RN in Labor and Delivery. She will continue working on a per diem basis--only two shifts a month.

And finally, we found out that Kirstin is having a baby brother in July! She loves babies and will be a great big sister.

Here are some pictures and videos.

We emptied all the cupboards, took down the microwave, and washed all the dishes--and the ants went to the garage. They were in our car for a day or two, but have since disappeared, hopefully for good.

Kirstin loves the zoo--the lions were her favorite.

Kirstin has not been off the computer since Grandma showed her how to play...
